BC/YK SKATE CANADA COVID19 EVENT POLICY

BC/YK Section Event Vaccination Policy

Skate Canada BC/YK Section is announcing the introduction of an Event Vaccination Policy.

The policy has been introduced to ensure the safety of all BC/YK Section participants and the general public at Region & Section run Events.

Region and Section run events include but are not limited to competitions, simulations, Region and/or Section run assessment days, meetings, seminars, camps, coaching clinics and award banquets. The policy excludes skating club programming and club level events.

The policy has been approved by the BC/YK Section Board of Directors and comes into effect as of November 1, 2021.

This policy applies to all individuals, 12 years of age and older, attending and participating in Skate Canada BC/YK Section and Region events including, but not limited to, skaters, coaches, officials, volunteers, spectators, parent/guardians and other attendees.

Participants not able to be vaccinated and have a legal exemption may contact the BC/YK Section Office to discuss the possibility of accommodation to attend the event.

Participants will be required to show proof of full vaccination (2 doses) upon arrival at BC/YK Section Region and Section Events.

The full BC/YK Section Event Vaccination Policy can be viewed by clicking here.

This competition is part of the GSC Competition Program.  After you have registered, please remember to login to the GSC website and register for the GSC Competition Program.  The cost for this is $75/event, and covers all coaching fees and expenses for the competition, as well as ice time for the competition simulation held at McLaren Park Arena.  Deadline for this registration is at 12:00noon the first day of the competition.  Late fees will be assessed if your skater isn't registered before the cut-off.

This competition will follow Covid-19 protocols put in place by Skate Canada BC/YK.  We do not yet know what those protocols will be, but all skaters, parents, and coaches will be expected to follow them.

We would love to see as many skaters as possible attend this competition.  Every skater at Star1 or higher should be looking at participating.  Even though Kamloops may seem far, this is considered one of our local competitions for the season, as we're not travelling to Vancouver or beyond.  With the cancellation of StarSkate events at SS Autumn Leaves it has been a long time since we have had the opportunity to get in front of the judges, and do what we do!  If you are unsure which event(s) to register your skater for, please speak with Mr B.
