GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. Skaters may enter only one event in each discipline of Singles, Pairs, Dance and Interpretive (STARSkate and Competitive events). The exception to this is the Triathlon where skaters may enter this in addition to any individual events. However, skaters entering multiple events do so with the understanding that they may have schedule conflicts that are unable to be resolved.
  2. EVENT COMPOSITION: In normal circumstances, each category at the competition must be held for Ladies and Men separately. However, at the discretion of the Technical Representative / Chief Referee and the Host Committee, a decision to combine events may be made as follows:
    1. Combine two or more categories in the same event when each category has fewer than three entries.
    2. Combine two or more categories in the same event when one category has insufficient entries to hold the event.
In any of the above cases, categories may be combined only with full, prior knowledge and agreement of all competitors affected.
  3. The skating order shall be drawn by lot and may be drawn by computer for the initial round for the first or only portion of an event. Except as noted, draws will be made in accordance with SC Rules.
  4. Should entries in any competitive event be exceedingly large, the event will be divided into smaller groups by lot, which may also be drawn by computer. For STARSkate groupings and LOC events, the event may be divided into small groups according to birth date. Groups for Interpretive events will first be determined by level of Free Skate test passed, then by birthdate if further grouping is required. Should it be necessary to divide into groups, each group shall be considered a final.
    1. Medals shall be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th place for all groups.
    2. Closed marking will be used for all events. As per Skate Canada Regulation Change 9, April 2003, only the final result will be posted.
    3. The competition ice surface of the arena is 80' x 180' with slightly rounded corners.
    4. Competitors may “skate up” one category above their qualifications in this competition. Please indicate on the registration form by checking the appropriate box.
    5. No collect telephone calls will be accepted and some long distance calls may not be returned dependent upon the nature of the query.

Attention All Coaches: It is mandatory for all participating coaches to register at competitions and to show their accreditation at all times during the competition in order to be at ice level during the events. Temporary accreditation will be issued for a fee of $25.00 by showing current Skate Canada membership and First Aid information.

As parents are not allowed in the dressing rooms, the host club will provide a “common area” where parents can be with their skaters to put on their skates before they compete.

The George Hicks Team Trophy will be awarded to the club with the highest total points as follows:

(a) 4 or more entries - 1st place 5 points

- 2nd place 3 points
